Trump Cancels Republican Convention

The next big stimulus bill is underway.

Republicans in the house are scrambling to rollout the next phase of stimulus to support the U.S. economy.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin claims that there is a fundamental agreement. And the total next stimulus package would total at least $1 trillion.

Existing stimulus measures to support Americans are now expiring. That means there’s great pressure to extend financial lifelines to people who are struggling and without work.

The next stimulus could extend the $600 weekly unemployment benefits. Plus, it could send direct payments of $1,200 to most adults.

Senator Mitch McConnell says the new stimulus bill will be unveiled next week. And we’ll be sharing the details as soon as they’re available.

President Trump Cancels Republican Convention

President Trump decided to cancel the RNC in Jacksonville. The move comes just a couple of weeks after the event was moved from North Carolina to Florida. Surging cases in Florida make it impossible for a live event to be held.

U.S. Exceeds 4 Million Cases

There have now been over 4 million confirmed Covid-19 cases in the U.S. The total number of deaths now exceeds 143,000. California and Texas top the list of states with new cases.

Florida ICUs Run Out of Beds

ICUs at 55 Florida hospitals are at capacity. That means there is no additional room for patients in critical condition. Additionally, another 40 hospitals have less than 10% capacity available. Stateside, ICUs are operating at 84% of capacity.
