Stocks are surging today. One Massachusetts biotech firm named Moderna (NASDAQ: MRNA) is creating a Covid-19 vaccine. And early results for the Moderna vaccine are very, very promising.
Moderna just conducted the first clinical trial of its Covid-19 vaccine on 45 healthy adults.
The results showed that 100% of the adults developed antibodies to fight the virus after receiving the Moderna vaccine.
Additionally, none of the adults had negative health effects as a result of the Moderna vaccine.
These results pave the way for a larger Phase 3 clinical trial of the Moderna vaccine starting July 27. It will include 30,000 adults. 50% of them will receive the Moderna vaccine, and 50% will receive a placebo.
Moderna shares were trading at nearly $85 this morning. The stock was trading up nearly 13% for the day.
