Several small-cap stocks made big moves today. The following small caps were up double-digits on a day when the Dow made only slight gains of 0.17%.
Here were Thursday’s top small-cap performers by percentage increases:
1. Multi-Fineline Electronix (Nasdaq: MFLX)
Shares of this electronics supply chain were up 18% today after the company announced that it expects its first-quarter revenue to exceed its own expectations. Multi-Fineline is projecting $239 million in revenue for the three months ended in December, well ahead of the $200 million the company forecast back in November. The company had been bracing for a slower month after heavy flooding in Thailand stalled production at its production facilities there. But apparently the damage wasn’t as extensive as the company once feared.
Multi-Fineline makes flexible circuit boards. Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is believed to be Multi-Fineline’s biggest customer, accounting for 66% of its revenue last quarter.
2. Vonage Holdings Corp. (Nasdaq: VG)
The international provider of phone-over-the-Internet service saw its stock rise 11.4% to $2.44 a share today. But Vonage’s increase appears to have been due more to a correction than anything tangible. The stock dipped 15% from January 4 through yesterday, and today it made up most of the ground to return to its end-of-2011 form. Even after Thursday’s gains, Vonage is trading 55% below its 52-week high of $5.39 a share.
3. Hyperdynamics Corp. (NYSE: HDY)
Oil prices fell below $100 today, but this international oil and gas company went the other direction, posting a one-day gain of 11.7%. Shares of Hyperdynamics have soared in recent weeks after the company announced plans to develop offshore drilling projects in the Republic of Guinea. At $2.86 a share, Hyperdynamics’ stock is up 40% since December 19.
